Comparative Assessment of Simulation Tools for Beam Delivery Systems of Linear Colliders
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, simulation codes for Beam Delivery Systems in linear colliders are discussed. Several tracking codes are available for particle tracking. They do not normally include precise calculation of the beam-beam effect, with accounting for pinch, hour-glass, pair production. They provide instead the particle distributions at the interaction point, after tracking through the different components of the linear collider. Other simulation programs must be used to compute precisely the beam-beam interaction. The traditional approach is to use the output bunches from the tracking codes as input for the beam-beam programs. Several tools suitable for advanced luminosity studies are presented. The use of these codes is put into perspective, treating in detail the example of the Compact LInear Collider (CLIC) beam delivery system (3TeV option).

متن کاملDamping Ring to Interaction Point Beam Transport Issues
One of the major challenges facing the proposed highenergy linear ee colliders is the preservation of the extremely small vertical emittance from the damping rings to the interaction point (IP). This emittance must be transported through bunch compression sections, the main linac and finally through the beam delivery system to the IP. Historically, the beam dynamics issues of each subsystem hav...
متن کاملComparison of Different Tracking Codes for Beam Delivery Systems of Linear Colliders
The vertical RMS spot sizes at the interaction point of linear colliders are in the 1 nm to 5 nm range at beam energies from 0.25 TeV to 1.5 TeV. Numerical tracking of particles through the magnetic focusing systems is used for the design and the performance prediction of the magnetic systems. In view of the small spot sizes and the high beam energies, it is important that the numerical codes i...

Introduction: Radiotherapy plays a vital role in cancer treatment. To establish a new potency in radiosensitize tumor cells, delivery of High-Z materials is offered. To date, several simulation geometries have been applied to define simulation sets. The clustering of nanoparticles (NPs) within the cells is a prominent parameter usually ignored in simulation studies. <stro...
متن کاملLuminosity Stability Issues for the TESLA Beam Delivery System (BDS)
Given the extremely small beam sizes required at the interaction point (IP) of the next generation of linear colliders, it has long been understood that particular attention must be made to component stability, in particularly with respect to ground motion and vibration. The beam deliver systems (BDS) contain some of the most tightest alignment tolerances of the entire machine. There have been ...
